We have recently returned from Vilanova…
We have recently returned from Vilanova Park. A Eurocamp Holiday Park on Spain's Costa Dorada.
We know this large site very well and are aware it is quite possible to be some distance from the main facilities. Nevertheless you are never going to be too far from one of the large pool complexes.
we had only booked a 2 bed comfort van and I assumed we might not have the best location.
As we are both in our 70,s and my wife has breathing difficulties we decided to contact head office to request a favourable site.
Head office were a joy. Easy to speak to and so understanding. While not promising anything they would endeavour to locate us as near to the main facilities as possible. Eurocamp came up trumps and
located us quite close to the Restaurant and supermarket. (I believe it might have been a different story in High Season)
The Van was spotless and had everything that was advertised including air conditioning and BBQ.
All of the Eurocamp Reps have a helpful & friendly nature and are happy to pass the time of day with you.
The Kids Club Reps were a bonus. Our Grandson spent many happy hours with them making friends in the process. They were also part of the evenings entertainment.
The Eurocamp site manager Gas, was a star a genuinely nice guy who was on friendly terms with all the holidaymakers.
Thank you Eurocamp we will be back next year.

Our holiday with Eurocamp experience
We booked our holiday with Eurocamp in San Vincenzo, Tuscany - Hu Park Albatros. It was not our first time going with Eurocamp and certainly, it was our first choice compared to other holiday-providers.
Unfortunately, this time things just unfolded negatively one after the other.
We arrived at the camp at 6 pm, certainly, tired and exhausted, and received an envelope with the map of where to find our caravan. The key was already left at the caravan (that's fine but a bit unusual). Upon arriving, the very first thing we noticed was that the remote of the air conditioning was missing - and there was no way to turn it on manually - this part was broken. Going back across the camp to meet our host to find out there was no one there, and some other envelopes left on the desk unattended. We (there were already three parties queueing) phoned someone who promised to be back in 15 min. After 30 min we called back and again someone would be in 15 min. Eventually, when seeing someone I was told that services are unavailable and I would need to wait until the next day. The only option was to borrow a remote from a neighbour and turn the air conditioning on.
Then, we were missing the BBQ, then the fridge didn't work (not at all, just the light), then the knives were missing (we had just 2, one small utility knife and the bread knife). There was no chopping board, and the extractor above the hobs didn't work, apart from generating a very loud noise.
On the second day, they replaced the fridge, but there were no shelves on the door of the fridge(???). On the fifth day had to call again for the BBQ and explain that I was not able to cook inside as it would trigger the smoke alarm (still no working extractor), and had no BBQ to make food outside. They were expecting a new delivery of BBQs, hence this delay. And of course, after this call they brought a BBQ, which was very dirty and partly working (gas holes were dirty and half of the BBQ was lighting, and the other half not - we're talking about a small size BBQ). And my first neighbour, who was also missing a BBQ received a new one(???) about half an hour later.
Also, on the fifth day in the evening, a water pipe under the caravan burst, we reported it the next morning and the service did come within 2 hrs to fix it. Nice... but they forgot to turn on the water again after fixing the water pipe. Again call someone to come and fix it, well, they were promising to be there in about 2 hours. But what I am supposed to do 2 hours without water, with a little boy who needs to be fed (lunchtime)? You can't go to the toilet, or wash your hands, you cannot wash food to prepare something - we had to use bottled water for all this.
Did we have other hassles - sure. The remote of the air conditioning would "freeze" and no button would be responsive. Only way to get it working was to reset it, take the batteries out, put them back, schedule a timer (that was the only responsive option for some odd reason), turn it back on or off. And of course, if you left it on automatic to turn off or on at i.e. 22C, it would just go beyond this value until you start freezing and the temp drops to around 18C (especially at night). Or just freezes and shows 22C but actually, when you press the temp button to increase or decrease the temp, it would just "jump" at 27 or 28C. On the eighth day of our camping, we went for 2 overnights in Rome, and upon returning the light in the shower room died. Called again for someone to replace it but that actually never happened - we were 3 nights without the light in the shower room.
I, myself, phoned them about 10 times, a few times was talking to them directly, my wife called a few times, we spoke to Eurocamp in Ireland a few times - yep, had to call them as we couldn't get things sorted on our own. Shall I blame the Eurocamp organisation at the camp, or Brexit and all its consequences of it (yep, I realised, they're a UK company), or a mix of everything? One thing is for sure - besides so many holiday providers, I am not going to bother anymore with Eurocamp.
On the other side, the Hu Park Albatros is just a great place to camp. Nicely organised, quite large, with a large supermarket - practically, you do not need to drive around for shopping, not at all. The pools are all covered by rubber, so safe for kids without worrying they would get badly hurt. The only downside (if I may put it this way) was the WiFi or Mobile coverage. At the furthest side of the camp (of course, we were there) there was no WiFi at all, and the mobile data was hardly peaking at 0.20-0.30mbps if you were exceptionally lucky. Outside of the camp, you'd get 5G, at the poolside, about 20-30mbps. We loved the camp and it's close to the sea, with warm and quite clean water. One thing to bear in mind - there was a small tsunami, several larger than usual waves, but nothing serious. All Italians left the water straight, so be aware

Great holiday at La Torre del Sol
Just back from 16 days in La Torre del Sol in Spain. Campsite was excellent for us. The Eurocamp mobile was spotlessly clean when we arrived and check in was easy.... the couriers came to us once we arrived. The campsite facilities were excellently maintained.. public areas continually being cleaned..... the arrangements and staff at the pool and were great... restaurant service staff very friendly and helpful. Only slight downside was the beach was great for sunbathing and swimming, but there was about a metre of stones to get through to get into the water...we noticed a lot of the locals wore rubber 'swim shoes' which were the solution, if only I'd known... The Eurocamp Courier team ( a husband and wife) were fantastic and always available and helpful

Beware!! Not what you pay for!!!
Booked a week at La Chapelle, southern France. we have stayed at this camp many times but this years experience was shamefully lacking on Eurocamp standards. Problems on arrival… No hot water, No air conditioning (specifically payed for) No parasol or canopy, Toilet kept flushing on its own (continually)..
Reported issues immediately to reps… note made on pad….. No help or visit….. reported again and a young lady came to help….. between us we go the hot water working so we could shower….. problem now is it either scalded you or ran cold…… Reported and Note made on pad no help sorting. parasol turned up…. Looked like it had been picked up from the local tip…. Alfresco? Ahhhh the penny drops we are in an old Alfresco van re badged as Eurocamp (same company really just I have had issues every time I have had any dealing with Alfresco hence why I use EC now) cleaned the Parasol ourselves due to reps comments “ sorry it’s filthy I know but at least you have one” so after 3 days of reporting the issues and having reps make notes we gave up chasing the issues as it was clear we were being fobbed off by everyone. I. Did ask to be moved to a van that was equipped but was told camp was full….. van next door was the same van, empty and the rep had the air conditioner on when cleaning it…. What a slap in the face after 4 sweaty days and nights….

Summary

Hot water… only way I could manage was to run the hot tap in the bathroom and then start the shower to reduce the scalding effect.. we managed to shower

Air Conditioning…. Never worked.. it is fitted and the van has the symbol but they did not have remotes to operate them ( this was how Alfresco stopped you using it if you did not pay extra) I did pay for it to be included but it was not provided…. Hot sweaty week with poor sleep !!!

Parasol…. Will be clean for next occupants but with no base provided like us when the wind catches it all you drinks on the table will take off with it so beware…….

Toilet self flushing, keeps filling all night…. had to turn water off so we could sleep…… still needs fixing but it may be now fixed as it’s been recorded a dozen times on a dozen pads by a dozen reps…… No don’t think it will be…

Customer Service … None existent…. I am not a fussy traveller and know some vans are well used but the service from the team on this site was terrible to say the least… If I book with Eurocamp I expect a Eurocamp van that is as described and the Eurocamp service I have been used to.

If this is how they treat their loyal clients then BEWARE you may not get the relaxing holiday you have payed for and they promised.

Domaine des Naiades
Domaine des Naiades, Abbie and her crew were fantastic, helping out as our car had broken down, helping with translation and helping with the transport to the garage when the RAC let us down, can’t say enough about the eurocamp crew, always available and always smiling, thank you to the naiades crew !!

Holidaying with dogs . . . .
Haven't actually even been on the holiday yet and I am already disappointed. If you are looking to take your dog, be very careful of the lack of information on where they can go in the surrounding area like beaches. Do you own specific research - don't rely on the Eurocamp local information to actually tell you.

You don’t get what you have paid for. Beware if you are going to St Raphael (Esterel)
Terrible, simply Terrible. Booked Azur Plus at St Raphael (Esterel)
Described as revolutionary outdoor living with a large partially covered decking area
Reality ? A cheap Eurocamp parasol and no partially covered deck area. However , you can see the freshly sawn posts where the frame has been removed. Couriers on site confirm that there have already been complaints about this, but nothing is done. Unit is in poor state of repair, and this is one of Eurocamp’s premier units. Couriers are too busy to deal with this on site, “you must telephone and complain, there is nothing we can do.”
Beware if you have booked a unit here from Eurocamp. If you have small children and need the security of a large shaded deck you will not be getting it.
Standards have dropped dramatically and the attention to detail I have been used too as a customer of over 20 years has evaporated.
Think long and hard before spending your money here in future.

Very poor experience
Very poor experience. The accommodation at Chateaux les Eaux was very tired, with many things broken and unserviceable, or just old and dirty. For example parasol broken, light fittings broken or smashed, wallpaper ripped off the wall, mattress too small for the bed frame, dirty decking with weeds growing through it to name but a few issues.
Could we find the reps? Not a chance!
We paid extra for a comfort but it was just old shabby and knackered.

In a nutshell - DISGUSTING
I have been holidaying with Keycamp and Eurocamp for over 40yrs (yes, I’m 70 now) and I have never come across anything like this last visit 9th to 19th May 2022.

After a 16 hour drive I was at the site within 5 minutes of my predicted arrival time.

I had read the reviews and was expecting an older caravan – no problem.

I was NOT expecting filth.

10 Ansien Jardin, la croix du vieux pont – sounds so nice.

Outside: The whole area was covered by overhanging trees which constantly dripped what I can only assume was tree sap and this I suspect was the cause of some of the dirt problem. Of the white decking furniture there was not one clean chair to sit on and the table still had the remnants of the last occupants’ meal on it. These honestly looked as though they had not been cleaned since last year. The sun-shade was broken, filthy with dirt and bird droppings making it completely unusable. The clothes dryer was horrible and was grey with grime. The BBQ still had some old meat on it.

Inside: The heating had been left on full blast and all the windows fully open – I was met with flies and other insects. Someone had left a welcome gift in the toilet – presumably because the flush did not work. The shower was just dirty. The mattress covers on the double bed were sweat stained and we were expected to use 2 single quilts on the double bed. In the kitchen the cups were all stained, there was only one saucepan and there were dead flies in the glasses so proudly displayed in the seating area.

I went to reception to report the issue. While I was explaining the problems the rep. picked up the phone, ignoring what I was still saying and ‘passed the buck’ to the cleaning team – in doing so she mentioned I was complaining of dirty seat cushions – I had never said anything like that. I was quickly brushed aside and told the cleaning team would sort it out. Shocking attitude and without doubt the worst rep. I have met in 40yrs.

20 minutes later young man turned up at the caravan and on looking around immediately apologised and contacted the team manager who when he turned up very quickly arranged a replacement accommodation.

So after a 4pm arrival we were eventually able to unpack at 8pm.

The same spec caravan but clean – so nice apart from the open manhole next to the caravan, partly covered with large wooden boards and protected by 2 red plastic barriers to keep children away. To be honest this was at the other end of the caravan from our bedroom and we only occasionally got a whiff depending on the wind direction. I would not have been happy had I wanted to use the 2 twin bedrooms at that end of the caravan as they had open vents within 3 feet of the manhole.

We arrived on the Monday and had a nice quiet few days until Friday – block bookings can be hell on a caravan site and we felt that half the site was visiting the caravan opposite us. 4 white plastic tables and numerous chairs brought from other caravans for the 20 plus adults partying until after midnight, cars constantly visiting and parking anywhere, blocking access for other people.

The French lady with 3 young children in the caravan next door threw her personal belongings in the car and left. Unfortunately she left black bags of rubbish (including used nappies) which ended up being spread across the pitch for 4 days. This mess was clearly visible to any of the many rep’s, cleaners and gardeners passing by but was ignored.

If it were not for relying on ferry bookings (which changed constantly but that was P&O) my wife and I would also have left early.

On the penultimate day we were visited by a Eurocamp representative to see how we had enjoyed the holiday. Everything was explained and he said it would be reported to Head Office and we would hear from them in due course.

So far I have heard nothing.

Excellent company
This company have dealt with me fairly over holidays I should have taken over the pandemic period. I have just returned from one holiday in Spain (Vilanova) and found the staff to be extremely efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. I have booked another holiday later this year!

Pandemic travels - Impressed by helpful, flexible Eurocamp
Our family have had three 'pandemic trips' with Eurocamp. Each time things did not go quite to plan. (Vehicle breakdown, lockdown, travel restrictions, work emergency) We needed to change travel and accommodation details. (For example shift a ferry date, add a few extra days.) Each time we were impressed with the helpful, can-do approach of their friendly office staff. (In stark contrast to other companies who still use covid to moan, say no and excuse dreadful service.)
On site, our accommodation has been clean and well prepared, and the teams were relaxed, sensible, informative and responsive people.
Our wider family's needs have changed over the years - but whether we want to be hopeless sun seekers or independent minded explorers Eurocamp still provides us with a great base. We would recommend travelling outside peak season (if you can) for the best value and a chilled on site experience. Livechat has worked well for me, I like how you are emailed a transcript of the conversation. Also, the website is good but suggest you download the brochure which seems to have extra, clearly presented information to help plan a trip.
Just booked again what I hope will be the first of several 2022 trips.

Appalling company.
Appalling company.
Great when you book - very helpful & nothing is too much trouble. Once they have your money then completely different.
Booked in March 2021 for August 2022 with an accommodation guarantee. Received free upgrade for accommodation in October (always dubious) and now they have advised that the new accommodation is no longer available.
Apparently the owners of the parc have now taken back the areas where the units were sited, which means that Eurocamp guessed last year that they will still have them this year. All sites are reassessed at the beginning of the year apparently which means that there accommodation guarantee is worthless until the start of the year that you are travelling in.
They did offer us an alternative but not what we were looking for. Unable to tell from the invoice what we are being charged for & whether the free upgrade is still being applied. Apparently the price for a unit with a lake view at a premium site in August is only £10 per night more than the same unit without the view. I find this hard to believe.
When I requested to cancel the holiday, there was no reply on the online chat to even confirm that they had received the message. Sent 4 further messages asking if they were still dealing with me but no reply.
Rude unhelpful staff when things go wrong but I suppose they are on to the next customer
Have now rebooked exactly what we wanted a competitor for less money!!
So much for loyalty discounts etc.
Still not sure I believe that the Owners took back the sites - seems too convenient when bookings for this year are taking off. Maybe the truth is that they have resold the unit at a higher price as we booked when the prices had been held at 2021 rates.
This is not the first time that Eurocamp have changed our accommodation & at least this time we have been able to rearrange it. It will certainly be the last though

Eurocamp have been excellent about a couple of recent bookings! They got back to me the very next day and kept calling until they got through just to make sure I was happy with the solution they had suggested in the email.

They do lose one star for the texts telling me I have until the end of the day to pay the taxes and insurance that I did not want or my booking would be cancelled. A little more notice would be nice!
